Welcome from the Chairman
Can-do businesses and can-do people. It’s what makes Lufkin and Angelina County great, and what has helped us not only weather the economic downturn, but bloom in spite of it! Yes, we have lost manufacturing jobs. Yet, what I see is excitement about a revitalized downtown, a filled industrial park, new businesses and retirees moving to town! One segment of the Lufkin Micropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) economy in particular — healthcare — has seen an incredible 36.3% increase in employment over the last 11 years, compared to 0.9% increase in overall MSA employment for the same time period. The diversity of our economy is our strength.
Our mission at the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce is “to continuously improve the economic prosperity, the business environment and the quality of life in Angelina County.” With our strong relationship with the City of Lufkin, we will continue to support economic development activities. Our unique relationship with our school superintendents continues to be the foundation of support for strong, local, independent school districts. Our legislative ties ensure that our voice is heard in Austin and in Washington.
We know that Angelina County is a great place to live, work, and retire. We are the retail and healthcare hub of Deep East Texas. Your membership in the Chamber and your active involvement in the many Chamber events and activities helps us spread that message to others and guarantees a strong and vibrant future for Lufkin and Angelina County.
