Texas State Forest Festival Wins Top Honors During Texas Festivals & Events Association's Annual Conference

Chamber President, Jerry Huffman, with Brookshire Brothers Emily Watts holdings awards won during the TFEA annual conference.
The Texas State Forest Festival, Presented by Brookshire Brothers, won several awards during the statewide Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA) at their annual conference in Houston July 8-11. "This contest is open to any member Festival or Event in the state," said Chamber President/CEO Jerry Huffman.
The Texas State Forest Festival presented by Brookshire Brothers won the following honors at the Texas Festivals and Events Association Annual Conference:

1st Place – Best Press/Media Kit

1st Place – Best Miscellaneous Multimedia – for our screen saver

1st Place – Best Other Merchandise
"I believe our festival continues to draw crowds because the quality of work our volunteers and staff contribute, and these efforts have now been recognized on a state level," said Van Watson, 2010 Chairman of Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, "Our event has become a huge draw bringing in thousands of visitors from outside Angelina County".
The Forest Festival has been a staple for entertainment for the East Texas region since 1985. "Last year alone from the registrations we had for the $1000 gas giveaway, we know that over 21% of our attendees came from outside the County. Many people come to the festival, shop our merchants, buy gas, and eat at our restaurants. Our event has an economic benefit to Lufkin and we want continue to grow that benefit, " Watson continued.
Huffman added, "We continue to try to improve the festival with new events and programs, and we will continue to work to keep the Texas State Forest Festival as the premiere event in the Texas Forest Country region."
