Wiener on wheels rolling into Lufkin
LUFKIN, TEXAS (September 12, 2011)… One of the world’s most recognizable promotional vehicles is coming to Lufkin – The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, Saturday, September 24 from 10am to 4pm at the George H. Henderson Jr. Expo Center during the 27th Annual Texas State Forest Festival.
Today, three versions of the Wienermobile are in existence: the full-sized vehicle YUMMY, the Wienermobile Food Truck, and the LITL LINK (a Mini Cooper!). The 8 foot by 11 foot by 27 foot YUMMY is the lucky dog visiting Lufkin. The YUMMY comes loaded down with features like a smiling grill, six seats, and a gull wing door.
Created in 1936 by Oscar Mayer’s nephew, Carl G. Mayer, the ever-popular vehicle will be on site during the festival handing out Oscar Mayer Wiener Whistles and donning a horn that plays the Wiener Jingle in 21 different genres from Cajun to Rap to Bossa Nova, according to American Eats.
The 1952 version is on display in Detroit at the Henry Ford Museum. So, if you want to experience this franktastic sight without travelling over 1,000 miles cross-country, then bring your friends, family, and a camera to relish in it all.
