75 Years of Caring for Angelina County’s Children. Join the April 8 Flag Raising
The Angelina County Child Welfare Board was established in 1951 by the Angelina County Commissioners Court. The Commissioners recognized the need to help children in foster care as their basic needs were not being met by other local sources. The Angelina County Child Welfare Board consists of 7-15 members appointed by the Commissioners Court who represent all precincts of Angelina County.
The Angelina County Child Welfare Board helps provide resources for foster children in crisis situations. Over the years items such as diapers, formula, beds, bedding, clothing, shoes, birth certificates, and even funeral expenses have been given to those in need. In 2025, there were 177 Angelina County children in foster care.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. On April 8, 2026, the Angelina County Child Welfare Board will host a flag raising at the Angelina County Courthouse at 9:00am in honor of this month. This special flag will be waving all month to bring awareness to not only the child abuse that occurs right here in Angelina County, but all over the world. In 2025, two children in Angelina County lost their lives due to this horrible tragedy. The Angelina County Child Welfare Board strives to prevent abuse and neglect through public awareness and collaboration of individuals and local organizations.
Come celebrate 75 years of helping children in Angelina County on April 8th at 9:00am!
