Concerned Black Men of Lufkin to Host Teen Summit Focused on Leadership, Purpose and Potential

The Concerned Black Men of Lufkin (CBM) will host its annual Teen Summit on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Lufkin Middle School, 1225 Tulane Drive. Centered around the theme, "Your Journey Starts Here: Unlocking Your Potential," the event is designed to inspire and equip young people with the tools they need to grow into confident leaders and engaged members of the community.

The summit will feature an impressive lineup of local speakers who will share personal experiences and practical lessons on overcoming challenges, discovering purpose, and making positive choices:

  • Aryn Ricks, Summit Co-Chair and Reader, will present "Heading From Pressure to Victory."
  • Ivorie Ford, Assistant Pastor at First Lufkin Baptist Church, will speak on "Career Pathway."
  • David Rodriguez of the Lufkin ISD Police Department will discuss "Teen Violence."
  • Brian Bass, Pastor of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, will address the question, "Why Is School Important?"

Participants will be divided into four age-based groups and rotate through sessions throughout the morning. The schedule also includes breakfast, group activities, a panel-style question and answer session with all keynote speakers, and closing remarks.

The Teen Summit aims to provide more than information. It seeks to create an encouraging environment where young people can connect with mentors, learn from community leaders, and leave empowered to make meaningful decisions about their future.

Community members are encouraged to share this opportunity with students and families who may benefit from a day dedicated to leadership, personal growth, and unlocking potential.
