Lufkin Creative to Host Heritage Festival and Texas Cultural District Proclamation November 7

October 27, 2026

Lufkin Creative invites the community to experience Heritage Festival: Bites & Beats — A Celebration of Heritage Around the World on Saturday, November 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cotton Square Park in Downtown Lufkin.

Heritage Festival will bring people together for a day celebrating the food, art, music, traditions, stories, and cultures that help shape Lufkin and East Texas. Guests can explore participating artists and makers, food vendors, local businesses, cultural activities, live entertainment, and community experiences throughout the festival.

A special Texas Cultural District Proclamation Celebration will take place at 2:00 p.m., recognizing Lufkin’s official designation as a Texas Cultural District by the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Lufkin Creative is honored to welcome Gary Gibbs, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Texas Commission on the Arts, as a special guest for the proclamation. The celebration will mark an important milestone for Lufkin’s artists, cultural organizations, businesses, public spaces, and community partners.

The Texas Cultural District designation recognizes the creative activity already taking place throughout Lufkin while creating new opportunities to support local artists, strengthen cultural tourism, encourage collaboration, and build greater visibility for the community.

Participating vendors include La Cultura Taqueria, Reed’s Fish & More, Smash and Pass Burgers, Bizzy Bees Bakery, Caffeine Clinic, Sarai’s Clay Studio, VAZA Woodworks and Sharkbait Spraypaint, among others.

Families can explore the Kids Passport to Adventure area, sponsored by HiJinx. Participating organizations will also offer opportunities to learn and create, including Chinese paper lantern making with CENTURY 21 Cota Realty and a papel picado cultural activity with NexGen Liderazgo.

Confirmed entertainment includes Slack Elementary dancers, Casey Drummer, Coushatta Indians, Ketzaly dancers , and a DJ playing all your favorite tunes. A complete schedule with individual performance times will be announced as soon as it is finalized.

Additional Heritage Festival information, including the entertainment schedule, participating vendors, activities, and festival map, will be shared through Lufkin Creative’s website and social media channels as the event approaches.
