Early Voting Now Open in Angelina County
What You Need to Know Before Heading to the Polls
Early voting is officially underway across Angelina County, giving residents the opportunity to make their voices heard ahead of Election Day on Saturday, May 2.
This election includes a mix of municipal races, school board positions, and a major school bond proposal, all of which will help shape the future of our local communities.
Key Dates to Remember
- Early Voting: April 20–28
- Closed: April 21 (San Jacinto Day)
- Election Day: May 2 (7 AM – 7 PM)
What’s on the Ballot
City of Hudson
Hudson voters will decide the county’s only contested municipal races:
- Mayor: Incumbent Terry Taliaferro vs. Caleb Ramsey
- City Council: Angela Robertson, Frankie Ornduff, and Phil Novak competing for two seats
Early Voting Location:
Hudson City Hall, 3458 Ted Trout Drive
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
School Board Elections
Hudson ISD
- Position 4: Adrian Shepherd vs. incumbent Aimee Slusher
- Other positions are uncontested
Location: Hudson ISD Administration Office, 6735 Ted Trout Drive
Hours: 8 AM – 4 PM (weekdays)
Huntington ISD
- Position 1: Jacob Sapp vs. Robbyne Arnold
- Position 7: Four candidates (Dennis Bell, Chad Brock, Monica Ivy, Bradley Stringer)
- Special election to fill an unexpired term
Location: Huntington ISD Administration Office, 908 N. Main St.
Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (weekdays)
Diboll ISD
- Five candidates competing for three trustee seats
Location: T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library, 300 Park Street
Hours: 8 AM – 5 PM (weekdays)
Lufkin ISD Bond Election
One of the most significant items on the ballot is the Lufkin ISD bond proposal, totaling more than $140 million across two propositions.
Proposition A: $98.25 Million
Includes:
- Renovations to Lufkin High School
- Career and technical education upgrades
- New agricultural science barn
- School buses with seat belts
- Safety and security improvements
Proposition B: $42 Million
- Construction of a new stadium to replace Abe Martin Stadium
If approved, both propositions would be funded through bonds supported by property taxes.
