What a special opportunity this was.

Bringing our past Board Chairs back into the story wasn’t just meaningful, it was powerful. The Legacy Luncheon created space to honor the leaders who helped shape this Chamber while also inviting them back into the life of the organization they helped build.

At its core, this gathering was about one thing: gratitude.

Each leader in the room played a role in building what the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce is today. They didn’t just serve in a position. They invested their time, their leadership, and their belief in this community. Because of that, the impact of their work continues to grow and touch lives long after their term ended.

One of the most powerful moments was simply looking around the room.

From past Board Chair Bob Brown in 1988 to current Board Chair Chris Gaw, decades of leadership were represented together in one place. Different seasons, different challenges, different opportunities, but each one mattered.

The Chamber you see today stands on their shoulders.

It was a reminder that leadership is not just about the moment you serve. It is about the legacy you leave and the foundation you create for those who come next.

We are especially grateful to Dr. Sid Roberts, whose generosity underwrote this luncheon and made this meaningful gathering possible. His support is a reflection of the very legacy we came together to celebrate.

As we honored the past, we were also reminded of something just as important: the invitation forward. The Chamber continues to evolve, and there is still a place for these leaders in its story.
